Burden Lifted

How can God speak
If we are not listening
Stop the noise and hear
He brought millions through
A painful great wilderness
He fed, clothed, and sheltered them
Disciplined and loved
Remember and consider
His faithfulness and mercy
There is more to the story
More information for you
More love than you can fathom
A living presence
He sets the lonely
In the family they need
He does the choosing
He leads the prisoners in song
He demonstrates that love
Find a good place of silence
Get alone and stop the noise
You comfort the wounded child
Take him/her to Jesus
For forty-nine years
Have I chosen to seek Him
The Spirit, my counselor
My friend and my guide
Have never let go of me
I felt discipline and love
It’s painful when I look back
To see how blind that I was
He carried me through the darkness
Abandoned; afraid
Today I sit in wonder
Focused and hungry to know
I choose to listen to God
Not the wounded child
My faith is in Him
The One who spoke and acted
With undying love
He daily bears my burden
A promise that I have seen
This promise has restored me
“I’ll never leave you”
Depressed and oppressed
He comes in loving kindness
To lift the burden
My peace I will give to you
If you will only receive

Meditations written after reflecting on Psalms 68; John 15; Colossians 3 and Matthew 11:28-30.
Dedicated to Rick and Terry Healy

O, my Father, forgive me
I don’t know what I’m doing
I do know that you love me
You are so faithful
Deliver me, Lord
Please bestow on my life
Protection from the evil
That lies within me
Purify my heart, O Lord
Renew your Spirit in me
I am lost without your love
I know no other like you
Please come and give me wisdom
To reveal your loving heart
Help my unbelief
This battle runs deep
My mind is the battlefield
My emotions are land mines
Your presence saves me
My heart is touched by your love
Jesus died to forgive me
His resurrection
Is where I find peace of mind
I can hear Jesus saying:
I’ll never leave or forsake
The ones who accept
The gift of life that I give
My promise is always true
I’ll live in your heart
I will heal all of your wounds
Mankind cannot fathom this
A higher love comes
To those who are listening
Who are broken and cry out
I’ll never leave you
Is the promise I give you
My love is enough
I’ll set my mind
On things that are true and good
There is one who is good
My friend and Savior, Jesus
He draws me to renewal
Years ago, I found myself continually stepping on the land mines of my emotions.  God has taught me to every morning make His words my battleground and not my feelings.  My brokenness and abandoned feelings were comforted by the living Christ who said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”  He keeps His word.
Today’s focus and meditation has been Psalm 51, John 15, Colossians 3, and Matthew 11:28.

The Dance of Joy

I want to narrow my life
And be clear of my focus
Know exactly why I’m here
Be faithful to love
There is a rhythm of joy
A dance of life I will find
It has beautiful movements
Lovely to behold
Pay attention to detail
I will practice the basics
Concentrate on the movement
Until natural
All people can learn this dance
There are four steps you must learn
Awareness and intention
Will go along way
Add on to that attention
Then focus on attitude
Study these words carefully
And practice daily
